Our Ordained Rabbis

In September 2003 seven students started on their rabbinic training program.  Five of them completed the course of study in 2008 and were ordained on 27 Augustus 2008, when they received their internationally recognized semicha.

These five rabbis are now fulll membes of the Rabbis' Assembly and of the Beth Din of the Dutch Union for Progressive Judaism. Their main areas of work and responsibilities include: 
  • Rabbi Tamarah Benima: PJG North Netherlands (Zuidlaren). She is now also a member of the Academic Committee of the Levisson Institute. 
  • Rabbi Marianne van Praag: LJG Gelderland (Dieren) and LJG Flevoland (Almere) (East and middle Netherlands)
  • Rabbijn Albert Ringer: LJG Rotterdam, chaplain to the Armed Forces and Pastoral Work for the PsychoMedical  Centre Parnassia in The Hague
  • Rabbi Navah-Tehila Livingstone Shmuelit: LJG Utrecht
  • Rabbi Kine Sittig: University College, London University, Department for Hebrew and Jewish Studies: fulltime researcher in the research project "Medieval Monographs on the Jewish Calendar", leading to a Ph.D. The project in PowerPoint (The written text is in English, the limited spoken explanations are in Dutch).
